"When God's People Pray" - Starting Wednesday's in August

"When God's People Pray" is a multi-part DVD series by Rev. Jim Cymbala

We'll begin working through this material on Wednesday's at 6:15 pm starting in August 2008 for a few weeks.

We'll begin right after supper together at 5:30pm. The menu's in the church kitchen and published in the newsletter if you can bring something! If you can only bring yourself, well that's fine too!

We'll study God's love for His people as it relates to prayer, the amazing blessings that come when God's people rely upon God in prayer, obedience as it relates to prayer, the Word of God and prayer, why prayer matters, and how to create a prayer ministry in our church.

Call 762-6392 to reserve your copy of the Participant's Guide!

So What Was Worship Like?

Has anyone ever asked you, "so what was worship like at church?"

How do you summarize your time in God's presence being ministered to by His Word and Sacrament?

Here's a high tech way to answer that. Using the website Wordle that turns texts into a graphical image, here's an image what "worship was like" Sunday, July 13th 2008 at First Lawrenceburg!

(You may still not know what really went on, but you know, at least, that Jesus is the "Star"!)

October 31st - Reformation Day

While the rest of Lawrenceburg may be celebrating "Halloween" on Wednesday October 31st, at First Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceburg, we'll be handing out candy with a Christian message. Strategically positioned as we are on Admiral Circle, last year we handed out over 160 bags of candy to children visiting the neighborhood. Hopefully we'll reach that many or more this year.

This year Pastor Chuck will dress up like the "Mad Monk of Wittenburg" himself - Martin Luther - whose act of nailing the 95 Theses to the Cathedral Door on October 31st can be said to have started the "Reformation". That may not sound like a big deal to you, but it's about what we all crave: freedom to live without fear because God has set us from from all that was destroying us - even ourselves. It's called REFORMATION DAY and we want you to join the fun!

So visit with Pastor Chuck as the MAD MONK FROM WITTENBURG and the gang as they're passing out the candy at First Presbyterian Church 252 Admiral Circle on Wednesday October 31st.

There'll be candy for your sweet tooth and a welcome for your soul!
